An update on Watford Community Housing’s essential insulation works

Watford Community Housing have been working hard to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and help save their tenants money on their energy bills through insulation work.

Through the Greener Herts partnership with B3Living, settle and Dacorum Borough Council, they have secured £14m in government funding for energy efficiency improvements to homes in Hertfordshire. Combined with a further pledge of £25m from the four organisations, this means works will be carried out on around 1,500 homes over two years from April 2023!

Watford Community Housing are working with contractors SCIS and KOOKA on 285 homes, doing a variety of works including external wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, internal wall insulation, and replacing windows.

As of October 2023, they have completed 38 properties, and are looking to complete 101 by January.

Here is what two of their residents had to say about the improvement works to their home:

Gordon“I’m pleased with it and very happy with the colour – looking forward to it saving me money on my gas bill.”

Joe “It is absolutely wonderful what they have done, the house looks really modern! All minor hiccups have been resolved so quickly and all the staff have been very friendly and helpful. We have hardly had to put the heating on at all which will make a very big difference to our heating bill!”
